Evolution – its growth

It started with one dad… me.

After hitting rock bottom myself, I made a promise that if I could get back on my feet, I would do everything I could to make sure other dads didn’t have to go through that alone.

At the time, I also needed purpose. I wanted to serve.

So I started with one simple BBQ meetup in Brisbane.

From that one small gathering, the Dads Community has grown into something far bigger than I ever imagined. Today we have multiple events happening regularly, dads supporting dads, and kids building friendships with other kids who understand their journey.

Lives are being changed. Some have even been saved.

Dads are finding mates again, learning new skills, taking ownership of their lives, and putting systems in place through programs like PREVENT to stop dads reaching rock bottom — things like depression, losing contact with their kids, suicide, relationship breakdowns, isolation, and drug or alcohol struggles.

Today we have over 3,500 dads nationwide, with strong communities across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, and we continue to grow every week.

The Dads Community is now one of the fastest growing fatherhood communities in Australia, and an award-winning movement, not because of me — but because of the incredible men who show up for themselves, their kids, and each other.

And this is only the beginning.

About the kids of the community – benefits

One of the biggest things people sometimes don’t see about the Dads Community is how much it benefits the kids.

When dads connect, support each other, and work on themselves, the real winners are the children.

Kids get to see their dads surrounded by good men, having healthy conversations, being active, laughing, and showing up for life. They experience community, role models, friendship, and positive environments instead of isolation or stress.

They get to run around at events, meet other f in amilies, build friendships, and grow up seeing what strong, supportive male relationships look like. That leaves a lasting impression.

A big reason I put so much energy into supporting dads is simple.

Every innocent child deserves a dad who is present, healthy, emotionally strong, and engaged in their life.

When we help a dad get back on his feet, reconnect, or feel supported again, it doesn’t just change his life… it changes the future of his kids.

The Women Behind the Community

Another group who deserve recognition are the women in the lives of the dads in our community – the mums, partners, wives, co-parents, and loved ones who support the journey.

They are often the first to notice the change.

They see their partners come home calmer, more connected, and more present. They see the impact that connection, healthy conversation, and support from other men has on their families.

Many of the women connected to our community tell us they feel relief knowing their partner has a positive outlet, strong friendships, and a supportive environment where they can talk openly and grow.

When dads feel supported, the benefits flow into the home.

Relationships improve, communication becomes healthier, and family life becomes more stable.

The women of our community are some of our biggest supporters, because they see firsthand how much a strong community of men can positively influence the wellbeing of their partners, their children, and their family life.

At the end of the day, supporting dads isn’t just about men.
It’s about stronger families and healthier environments for everyone.
